7 Simple Ideas for Living Green
Do you want to be a good steward to the earth but don’t know where to begin? The good news is that when it comes to living green, even the simplest changes can go a long way. I thought I would compile a short list of seven things you can do right now to help the environment.
- Recycle something. Even if you just recycle one item a day you will be making an impact. (Of course, the more you recycle the better. Check with your local recycling facility to see what kinds of items they accept.
- Change your lightbulbs. Are you using eco-friendly light bulbs? If not, it’s a good idea to switch. As your current bulbs burn out just replace them with the energy saving bulbs.
- Green cleaners. As your current cleaning supplies run out, replace them for greener options. These products are widely available in supermarkets nowadays.
- Turn off the lights. If you’re not using the lights in a room, turn then off! This is an easy thing to do but something that we often forget about.
- Fix any drips. Do your sinks drip? If so, you should get them fixed. Dripping faucets waste a lot of precious water over time.
- Make your vehicle green. You don’t necessarily need to run out and buy a new car. But when you do find yourself in the market for a new vehicle you should seriously consider
- Buy one organic cotton piece. You can find organic cotton clothing online at various places – even Amazon.com! Just buy one item and the next time you need to purchase something made of cotton, buy organic cotton online.
This is just a simple list to get you started. If you’re wondering at the philosophy as to why you’d want to do these things, I’ll be going into more detail in posts to come.
